At Rice, we believe that an inclusive workplace is a stronger and more effective one. As part of our commitment to fostering a community of care, the Office of Human Resources now serves as the central resource for disability support services for faculty and staff.
What's New
The Human Resources office ensures that Faculty and Staff have a dedicated point of contact for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Services include:
- Workplace accommodations
- Accessibility support
- Guidance on ADA compliance
Bringing these services into HR helps create a more coordinated and consistent experience, making it easier for employees to access the support they need.
How We Support You
Whether you are navigating a new diagnosis, need a workplace adjustment, or have questions about your rights under the ADA, we are here to help. Services include:
- Workplace Accommodations: Personalized support to modify the work environment or responsibilities to enable you to perform the essential functions of your role.
- Accessibility Support: Help ensure equal access to the workplace and university programs—both physical and digital.
- ADA Guidance: Support understanding your rights and options under the ADA, including protections, processes, and timelines.
- Interactive Process: We facilitate a good-faith, flexible, two-way conversation between you and the university to determine effective, reasonable accommodations that support your success at work.
All information shared during this process is treated with the utmost confidentiality.
