For many years, the new employee experience included a trip to the Human Resources (HR) department to complete new hire paperwork, orientation, and a campus tour. Like many others, this memorable tradition was paused during the COVID-19 pandemic. HR is excited to report that the much-loved campus tours have returned!
Led by the charismatic Wiley Bennett and his team, Rice campus tours are designed to build community and connection. Tours are encouraged for the newest members of the Rice community.
Here’s what campus “tourists” can expect on their journey:
- Explore the Campus: Uncover hidden gems and iconic landmarks while gaining a deeper understanding of the university’s rich history, traditions, and vibrant atmosphere.
- Foster Connections: Meet other employees, share experiences, and build connections to make your Rice journey more memorable.
- Delight in Lunch: Enjoy a delicious lunch after the tour at one of the serveries. It’s the perfect opportunity to relax and chat with fellow participants.
New employees can access employee orientation through the iO Learning module, which includes videos, recordings, and slides available on their first day or at their convenience. This 45-minute online orientation is always accessible for review and concludes with options to sign up for campus tours and a servery lunch. More information about sign-up is available on Knowledge Cafe.
